Kathleen’s was started twelve years ago by Kathleen Doemland in Seattle, WA. A year later, she teamed up with Kathy Dunbar in a second store, now located in Everett, WA. Kathleen’s mission is to make wonderful fashions in fabrics such as cotton, linen, and rayon available to all women of size. Kathleen’s carries lines such as Flax, Fenini, Amanda Gray, and Meng Design. Because Kathleen’s is a boutique, they do not do catalog business. The fashions shown in this issue are available in sizes 14W–26W only. The sizes in their retail stores, however, range from 16W to 36W.

Kathleen’s carries daytime fashions, sportswear, lingerie, swimsuits (at Everett location only), and special occasion fashions for all your events, including prom and bridal (bridal at Seattle location only). "At Kathleen’s, we will find a solution to your fashion woes," says Kathleen Doemland. "We are beautiful, vibrant, exciting, and powerful women, and we deserve the best that is available in life, and in fashion." When you are in Washington, please visit Kathleen’s and see all that they have to offer: 5447 Ballard Ave. NW, Seattle, WA 98107, 206-784-5996 (phone), 206-784-9604 (fax). Their other location is 2809 Colby, Everett, WA 98201, 425-258-2065.

sayswhoSAYS WHO?, a retail store founded in Oakland, California, more than seventeen years ago, is dedicated to the proposition that clothes with personality, fashion, and funk should be available to all large women. In order to accomplish this, they’ve chosen to manufacture their own collection of great-looking, easy-care, natural fiber clothing in garment-dyed cotton, linen, tencel, rayon, and silk. Sizes range from 0 (12/14) to 4 (26/28). They’re adding a size 5 (30/32) in some styles. Says Who? also carries such lines as Flax, Vikki Vi, Amanda Gray, and ethnic clothes from a number of vendors.

Owners Susan Benson and Miklane Janner want their clothes to make your life a little easier. "We work to have just the right mix of color, texture, and style to be effortlessly yet cleverly coordinated so that you take all the credit. We love these clothes and wear them everyday. Don’t just cover yourself: discover yourself!"

Says Who? has two locations: 3903 Piedmont Ave., Oakland, CA 94611, 510-547-5181, and 539 Bryant St., Palo Alto, CA 94301, 650-324-3511. They are working on a Web page; stay tuned for details!

Bell

SUZANNE BELL FASHIONS was created in 1984 by Suzanne Bell out of a serious need for supersize clothing. They manufacture their own line of fashion forward clothing and can produce new designs quickly for their customers. Sizes range from 16 to 60, and include fitness wear, outerwear, comfort bras, swimsuits, big shirts, lingerie, and much more. Their line of careerwear is designed in a soft, flowing, feminine style.

"Come shop in Canada," says owner Suzanne Bell, "where your dollar gets you two times more!" They are happy to assist you in your fashion needs, wherever you live. Write, call, or fax for information, 5794 Victoria Drive (at 43rd), Vancouver, BC, V5P 3W7, Canada, 604-324-7394 (phone), 604-325-7772 (fax). They are starting plans for a Web page; more to come!
